Local Rockers Scissors for Lefty Celebrate New Album Release at Slim’s SF

Acclaimed indie rockers Scissors for Lefty will be celebrating the release of their highly anticipated new album at Slim’s in San Francisco on Saturday, May 4. The all-ages show starts at 9pm with Deer Park Avenue; doors will open at 8pm, with tickets on sale for $13 at www.slimstickets.com/events/299208/Scissors%20For%20Lefty.

Scissors For Lefty have taken the Bay Area by storm with their playful musical style and live presence, combining elements of Dirty Glam, Pop, New-Wave, and Modern Indie. They have played with the Arctic Monkeys, Dirty Pretty Things, Erasure, Metric, Panic at the Disco, Kaiser Chiefs, the Bravery, Interpol, Block Party, Queens of the Stone Age and Smashing Pumpkins and at many mainstay venues of the Bay Area music scene, including the Shoreline Amphitheater, the Warfield, the Fillmore, the Great American Music Hall, and the Independent.

Also playing that night are Deer Park Avenue, Beta State, and Deer Park Avenue. Best known for their energy-packed live shows and love for the road, Deer Park Avenue is a San Francisco-based rock band of sister duo Sarah and Stephanie Snyder. They have opened for Gregg Bissonette and joined Rick Springfield’s band on stage for his hit song “Jessie’s Girl.” They play up and down the California coast at such high-profile venues as the Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood and the Hard Rock Cafe in San Francisco, as well as overseas in Switzerland, France, and Germany.

Breakdown Valentine hails from San Francisco and consists of Allen Davis (formerly of Every Move a Picture) and Olivia Barchard. Within the last year the duo has diligently been crafting a collection of dynamic songs. Their inspiration stems from the warmth of analog synth sounds to mindscapes of cinematic value. Catch them live alongside great acts such as Chromatics, Soft Metals, the Frail, and Geographer.

Beta State is an Ambient/Pop/Rock band from the Bay Area. They are known for their powerful and uplifting songs and stage presences. They will be releasing their second full length entitled “#FRIENDSHIP (Deluxe Edition)” May 21st 2013.
